These courses are run as one day or two day courses. The first day consists of learning about the threat that mould represents, why it is a hazard and how to protect workers, colleagues and occupants from a work related exposure.
The second day is about correct remediation and compliance with standards and health and safety regulations.
Depending on the sponsor and the training location facilities, a “hands-on” element can be introduced into the class involving the students designing and setting up containment, creating negative pressure and simulating safe removal of contaminated debris.
This course is essential for those responsible for managing or remediating buildings which are damp (e.g. following fire, flood, leaks, condensation issues) and who are at risk of making it worse by spreading invisible contaminants like mould and causing harm to themselves and others.
This course should be attended by insurance loss adjusters and loss assessors who are ultimately responsible for the actions of any contractors and sub-contractors they appoint who may be breaching health and safety regulations by spreading biological agents.
